Project 365: Day # 75 - Monday, November 21, 2011 "Back to the Drawing Board"

I was completely board today after school. I had already finished all of my homework that's due for the next day and next week, so I literally had nothing to do except to study. But in order to save myself from boredom, I decided to go on the internet to search up a random picture for me to draw. As everyone knows, besides, playing instruments and listening to music, I always draw when I'm bored; which happens to be the case pretty often. Luckily my dexterous talents allow me to escape that horrible and miserable trans. I chose this drawing in particular because it seemed pretty easy to draw and that it's something of this type that I rarely draw. I started drawing the face which didn't look too different from the actual picture. The few details that I personally had trouble with was the eyes, and the lips. Although they were somewhat required with a tedious effort to draw them as accurate as possible, I was still able to pull it off. The sketch looked pretty good and I decided to add more to it. I added things such as shading and highlights that I made with an eraser. I was actually proud of myself only because I'm not a person who would draw people.

Project 365: Day # 74 - Sunday, November 20, 2011 "Early"

I find it very interesting that even on the weekends I never tend to sleep in no matter what time I went to bed on Fridays or Saturdays. I soon found out that this was extremely beneficial on Sunday, November 20, 2011. I decided to wake up on my own at exactly 5:30 am. I had absolutely no idea why I did this but I guess it just comes natural to me where I wake up so early for no reason. I find it funny sometimes to even believe that I do this. I know for a fact that the average teen never akes up this early on a weekend unless they have to, which is unlikely to occur. But the good thing about it is that I never have to worry about my parents waking me up anymore. I feel like I'm my own alarm clock. But anyway, when I woke up I took the dog out for a walk and then I decided to go out for a cold and early morning run. I was filled with so much zeal and enthusiasm just to feel the rush of cold air running through the insides of my lungs. I ran three laps on the cross country course at the school and then ran four laps on the track. I felt even more excited considering the fact that I was literally the only one who was at the track. No one else was there. I even did a couple steps before I went back home. Getting up early is not always a negative thing. It just made me more prepared as to what I'm going to be experiencing in the next couple of years while I'm in college as well as when I receive a job.

Project 365: Day # 73 - Saturday, November 19, 2011 "Meeting with the President of Morgan State University"

I was too excited for this day, Saturday, November 19, 2011 because I was going to meet the president of Morgan State University, one of the most prestigious HBCU's and one of the best Engineering school in the country. Ever since I was about 13 years old, I've been really interested in attending Morgan State for their monumentous and honorable Engineering program. The president's name is Dr. David Wilson. I met Dr. Wilson at a mentoring group meeting called "Mentoring Male Teens in the Hood". This male mentoring group is here and ran acceptionally in order to reach out to the young males in the city of Baltimore, and to motivate them and to give them the out most confidence to stay in school and to be successful. Dr. Wilson was already scheduled to be in attendance to speak with the group and tok inspire them with his humble childhood and how he's overcame a myriad of obstacles in order to be where he his now. I was invited to come and speak with him one-on-one by one of my dad's closes friends, Mr. Cameron Miles. Mr. Miles is the person in charge of the group and he and the staff do everything in their power to make sure that these kids, soon to be young adults have everything they need to succeed in anything and everything that they do. When I spoke to Dr. Wilson, I was blown away by his stories and how he conqured so much in his lifetime. He's made copious amounts of sacrifices in order to gain his momentum and to strive further than excellence, but to encroach beyond limitations. And that's what truly inspired me to continue to do what I love to da and what I have to do.

Project 365: Day # 72 - Friday, November 18, 2011 "What a very cold morning it was."

Today, November 18, 2011 started off as a very cold morning. I was walking my dog around the neighborhood around 6:15 am like I usually do every morning and something caught my eye. It was something very interesting in the sky above me. I happens to be a plethora of stream lines from the jets screaming above. They happened to produce a vast amount of stream of clouds all in rows of five. stretching so far that it seemed endless when you look at either side of which the jet was coming from as well where the jet was headed. I thought to myself and said "wow!" I was filled with excitement becuase when I as younger, I used to see this all the time whenever I happen to be outside for a particular reason. The jets made and amazing pattern in the sky that reminded me of the stripes of our flag in a way because of the straight lines that were made with these amazing flying machines and that it looked as if each line was meticulously drawn.

Project 365: Day # 71 - Thursday, November 17, 2011 "Report Cards! akajudgement day"

I was really excited for this day as well because report cards came out today. I knew I performed to the best of my abilities and clearly showed in my report card. As you can see I still have a lot of work to do but my diligence and my cogent aspect on education won't deter me from ever reaching my goal to get straight A's second quarter.

Project 365: Day # 73 - Wednesday, November 16, 2011 "Another idea for a video game score"

This was another chance to get into the piano room because another idea just popped into my head. Everybody knows that when you turn on the PlayStation three system, you here a certain sound as if an orchestra was tuning. Well that's what decided to corporate into my score in the beginning; it's placid tone will engage the gamer in some type of suspense. Therefore once we come up with a good plot for the game, I would be able build up from there.

Project 365: Day # 72 - Tuesday, November 15, 2011 "Indoor Track Season!"

It's finally here! Indoor track seaon starts today at 2:45 p.m. after school! I was very excited to a point where I was literally looking at the small and irritating analog clock in my Trigonometry class and just sitting there and counting down the minutes and seconds unitl the bell rang for dismissal for the day. But of course as you know I completed all of my class assignments early so I was able to just relax until the end of class. We had about five minutes left in class but it felt like an hour. I just couldn't wait for the teachers to dismiss us already. Once the afternoon announcements went on, I was more than excited. I was filled with a huge amount of felicity and zeal just for my last and hopefully my best season ever. We reported to room 310 right after school to discuss regulations and the policies during the track season. When I came to the meeting, not only did I see a copious amount of underclassmen, specifically the freshmen, I felt proud that a lot of people actually came out for the team. As I looked into the room filled with students, I could see the determination in their eyes, I could feel that competitive energy that we are definitely going to need during our track meets in the future. This week was all about conditioning our bodies and to make sure that we're in shape come next week where we really start working on our technique as far as our arm movement and our stride. But overall it was a great first day. I can't wait for the rest of the season.

Project 365: Day # 70 - Sunday, November 13, 2011 "Bombing the Paper"

I decided to title this blog "Legal Artwork" for a couple reasons. First of all let me just say that I'm very interested in drawing graffiti on paper. I said on paper, not on the walls. This traditional style of artwork began in the early 1970's in the tough boisterous streets of Philadelphia, PA where it all started where young teens, who are around my age and younger began to write their names or their initials on public property such as bus stop windows, inside of buses, trains, and of course the walls. Now these writings were consisted of small tags that included their name, the name of the neighborhood of where they're from, their nick name, or something that comes to their mind when they think of making sure that these people recognize who they are and eventually that hunger for popularity grew. They went from tags to a graffiti term called "bombing". As the time went by, so did the different styles of graffiti that was being presented on walls and windows. The techniques when it comes to bombing starts out as a daunting task and it will take some time before mastering it. I basically came up with my own style on paper and I mace it from just a boring old piece of paper with mundane qualities to something trully amazing and worth looking at. I was at the barber shop waiting to get my hair cut and I had five people in front of me. Therefore I took the time  to come up with what I like to call a "bombing on paper".

Project 365: Day # 69 - Saturday, November 12, 2011 "Back to the Basics"

Today was the day that I made a huge decision. That decision was to go back and start drawing anime again. I stopped drawing anime during my young yet dilgent years as a middle school student; preferably a sixth grader. I didn't really have a huge passion for it like most people do and have always had, but I admired that style of artwork as well as the cartoon style of it. Shows such as "Dragonball Z", "Naruto", "Bleach" and many others work off of this style. Over the recent years, I've been blown away by my little sister's dexterous skills when it came to drawing anime characters. She's truly a natural by doing this. Therefore today I decided to ask her to re-teach it to me how to draw anime. I was glad to be able to depend on a younger sibling for something that I enjoy doing as well as she. We get along pretty well at home therefore I didn't find it to be a problem when it came to her re-teaching me the basics. After about 10 to 15 minutes I was on my own for a while and I was able to come up with my own anime drawing. I'm just blown away as to how well I was able to draw this picture from an anime book.

Project 365: Day # 68 - Friday, November 11, 2011 "It's 11/11/11!"

This day was the number one day that everyone has been waiting for. It is November 11, 2011. Yes 11/11/11. All I heard from most people was that thy didn't know what the big commotion was about 11/11/11 and why it was so important. I thought that because I've been hearing that at 11:11 pm, people would make a wish and had confidence that it would come true. But I sort of believed in having that kind of mentality or reasons that were very necessary such as maybe doing well on a daunting exam or making sure you make an audition. But other than that I haven't found that much of a reason to really rely on it too much like so many others.

Project 365: Day # 66 - Wednesday, November 9, 2011 "My introduction into Robotics Club"

Today was the day undecided to take in some interest into our schools robotics club. I thought it was very interesting and just amazing how they were able to design an construct a prodigious robotic machine that had the cerebral abilities of an average human; one who could complete a simple task such as lifting a toy ball and making sure it drops it into the correct cylinder-like tube. The controllers look almost exactly like an Xbox 360 controller only with less buttons on it. But that's really clever how they designed the mechanics to make sure that those small amount of buttons on the controller were able to make something big and amazing happen to the robot with one push of a button. They designed two robots. One was small and the other was huge. But each size of the robot varies based on what tasks it needs to complete.

Project 365: Day # 67 - Thursday, November 10, 2011 "A day in the Piano Room"

Yes finally some peace and quiet. I finally got a chance to go into the piano room after school and work on my composition for "The hope in the Unseen". I'm almost near the completion of the piece and it sounds very placid but beautiful. I can't wait until it's finished. This would be my third time that I composed my own score of a novel based solely in what was going on in it. And based on the events that took place in the novel, I was able to come up with a mood or style that best represents that event. I think that it was sort of easy Jennie came to writing a specific part or melody for that chapter of the book. But now I know that there are about 4 chapters therefore I decided to write based on what happened in the first seven chapters and then with the second seven chapters. I came up with this strategy only because it would be easier to really tie in the events into one section of the piece. I hope to had it done before Thanksgiving break.

Project 365: Day # 65 - Tuesday, November 8, 2011 "T.G.I.M.!"

Yes it is that day of the week again. It's Monday. But instead of saying "Thank God it's Friday", it's now known as "Thank God it's Monday" or TGIM for short. Each time we have AVID on a Monday, we watch a short video showing a DJ from Detroit explaining to us that all because it's Monday doesn't mean that your life is the bane of you and that you don't need to be depressed and filled with somber energy. I anything this day should be the bet day of the week. I took some motivational notes during the video and they all tied into what I want to accomplish in life and how I can do that. There were three points that he explained to us. They were to see your job differently which would be to see your job as a blessing instead of as a burden or stress because as you can see in our economy, millions of people wish to be in your shoes; the ones who have jobs whether they're great jobs or not so great ones. The second point was to be a blessing. Make sure that you're able to give than receive when it comes down to work and the people you work with. Be able to stand out from the crowd and to make everything you see that's mundane and boring and make it extraordinary. This brings us to or final point. Which is to stop looking for change and to be he change in something. You're wasting time if you're out looking for the change to happen because with all that time looking, you could've been made a huge difference in something that the impact of it will be extremely effective. I learned a lot from this video. I think it pertains to me as far as knowing how to accomplish certain things. Therefore I will always refer to my three points if I really have to. This video was a great way to start a motivational week.

Project 365: Day # 64 - Monday, November 7, 2011 "Going through some drawings"

I had some free time on my hands and I used it to clean out my closet in my room and I see that there's a box that's inundated with my pieces of art that I had since my freshmen year of high school when I had fundamentals of art during my second semester. When I saw how superfluous that stack was, I just couldn't help myself from not going through it. I'm glad I went through that crazy stack because it was a chance for me to really look at how much I've progressed as an artist over the years that I've been drawing and painting. But as I was going over the pile of artwork, I decided to lay them across my bed just so I could organize them better and easier. About five minutes later, I see a drawing I did for someone last year. It was one of my best drawings ever. I saw that one be the true breakthrough of my drawing as far as being an artist. This was my first time drawing a person's face after over three years when I did portraits in middle school. And even during that time, I was still struggling with that concept. But now I trusted myself and my style of drawing. This mentality that I was able to keep up was the key to my sucess as an artist and it will soon apply to something much more of key value.

Project 365: Day # 63 - Sunday, November 6, 2011 "The Steelers are going down!"

Sunday was a very important day for many football fans around the country specifically the ones in Baltimore, MD. This would be the case because it was the day that the Ravens play the Steelers for a second time this season. I had a lot of mixed feelings when it came to this major rival match up because for some reason we also seem to lose to them in Pittsburg more than we do in Baltimore. But I decided to not feel that way anymore. This time I had all the confidence in the world that the Ravens were going to beat the Steelers. Some way, some how they were going to win. I was nervous from the beginning of the pregame show to the beginning of the actual game. I was that nervous and scared that the Ravens were going to make a myriad of mistakes like they ususally do in the third or fourth quarter of the game everytime we play Pittsburg. It's like either Flacco would throw an interception, which I think is pretty common in a last minute situation, or overthrowing a pass. Aperantly I was wrong about that. Flacco played an amazing game and it clearly showed through how the rest of the players played in unisin and to a point where they're actually scoring more than just kicking field gaols. The outcome was final once Flacco threw an awesome pass to Tori Smith with less than 8 seconds left in the entire game. The final score was 23-20 with the Ravens back in first place in the AFC North.

Project 365: Day # 62 - Saturday, November 5, 2011 "Homecoming!"

Today was our varsity football team's annual homecoming game. We played Owings Mills High School and destroyed them. It seemed like we razed their team's ability to actually beat us and it showed on the score board. There was a huge turnout. All five bleechers were filled to full capacity. This happened to a point where there was absolutely nowhere to sit. But despite that dilema, I was proud fo the people who came out and supported our football team. They really needed that love and support from everybody. I saw a lot of grate plays by both our defense and our offense. I couldn't really take that many pictures only becaue the marching band that I was apart of played during the halftime show. The halftime show went very well. It was really nice how all of the parents and supporters that came out to see the game found Mrs. Harris and asked if they could perform an encore. We sounded so amazing that they were beggin us to play again. Although the band was missing some people, we were still able to make it happen and put on a great show for everyone.

Project 365: Day # 61 - Friday, November 4, 2011 "Another day off needed"

I literally forgot that we didn't have any school on Friday because of professional development day. I was happy that I was able to get this day off especially after the day of the pep rally which really drained me out like a battery losing power. I was so tired after that day; just from playing in front of hundreds of people with them screaming and yelling at the apex of their lungs, and the powerful sound waves from the superfluous amplifiers from the loud music. I was so tired that it felt like I came from a night club but during the day which would sound and look ironic in a way. But the bottom line was that I was extremley tired and I didn't feel like doing anything once I got home except to take a shower and lay down for a nice long nap. But I'm glad that the pep rally happened on that day before our day off because I knew already how tired I was going to be. Therefore I did just that which was to go home and just relax. I also took advantage of this day because I'm not that kind of person who would have the time to take small naps before I started my homework every day. The next day which happens to be the day we were out of school, I spent the majority of my day working on homework and other assignments and I started them much ealier that way I was free to do anything Saturday and Sunday. I'm glad I had this day off because I was able to get a lot accomplished in the time alotted.

Project 365: Day # 60 - Thursday, November 3, 2011 "Pep rally!!"

Yes it is that time yet again. Pep rally. This is truly the day that the entire school is in total spirit mode. All grades and all ages participated in the festivities that was recognized as Titan pride day or the day of the pep rally. I was one of many students who participated in the major event. I was (as many of you know already) that I am a part of the drumline and school marcing band. We performed three popular selections at the pep rally. The selections were "I gotta feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas, "Respect" and "All of the Lights" by Kanye West featuring Rihanna. This was an amazing experience for me for the fact being that this would be my last pep rally but this pep rally had something more besides the extension of the duration of the event but more activities were provided and it seemed like more people were in involved and some like the previous years. I also was amazed that every single side of the prodigious gymnasium was pumped and very boisterous in a way where the screams and the excessive cheering could be heard for miles and miles. Therefore it wasn't like the only side that was not into it was the freshmen side. During the previous pep rally it seemed like the only side that wasn't pumped or having any fun. It would be the way that they were sitting as if they had nothing else to do or that they had been stressing about something that was the bane of their exsitence. But it surely wasn't like that this year. Everyone was having the time of their lives. I felt the same amount of energy from the crowd when I was performing. It felt amazing to play with a loud and very passionate group of musicians.

Project 365: Day # 59 - Wednesday, November 2, 2011 "Powder Puff Game"

Everyone at school couldn't wait for this day to come especially the juniors and seniors. This day was New Town High School's fourth annual powder puff game which consists of playing a game of flag football between the junior girls versus the senior girls. This would be my third time going to a powder puff game and after all those years going in my sophomore and junior year, the result was always shown that the dexterous seniors claimed victory over the juniors. And now this day has come and my senior class was going against the junior class. It was pretty funny just how everyone was really filled with so much zeal and excitement the entire week before the game. I thought that it was cool only becaused this would really be the only time that New Town has showed any school spirit. But with everyone wearing their jerseys of which they represented their class, it was nice to see that serious yet fun and hilarious rivalry. I also took note that this would be my last powder puff game that I would go to therefore I really made the best out of that experience. It felt great to be with my coterie of friends and to just let loose and have fun. I really enjoyed myself that day. Even though there was a time during the game that I thought that the juniors were going to make a comeback after they scored a two point conversion, but I never lost hope in our senior team; they had the true potential to come back with a win over the juniors. And once the clock began to count down from 50 seconds, it felt as if the clock began to shorten the louder everyone on the senior side began to get gradually. But after the game, I had to give props to the junior team because of their meritorious efforts and teamwork as well as a good strategy.

Project 365: Day # 58 - Tuesday, November 1, 2011 "It's Finally November!"

Finally it's the month of November! This is really the month that seems to be inundated with so many events such as pep rally, homecoming, and not to mention the cruciality of the early decision deadline today and with everything else following. I'm glad it's November because we will soon gain an extra hour because of daylight savings. I feel like my senior year is already speeding pass me each and every day. But it also shows me that I'm getting closer and closer to graduating despite the fact that it's only Novemeber. I love the fact that this month has come because of the nature and how it brings out its outer beauty into perspective. And as a result of this, Fall has and will always will be my favorite season.

Project 365: Day # 57 - Monday, October 31, 2011 "Happy Halloween!"

Well it's definitely that time of year again; people of all agaes wearing flamboyant costumes and immitating their favorite celebrities and role models based on their costume. I unfortunatley don't really care for this chaotic holiday that much anymore. I know that teenagers who are much older than me still trick or treat all around neighborhoods, malls, and shopping complexes, but I'm one of the few who stopped "celebrating" it by the time they were in 8th grade. I simply didn't find a need to dress up every year and begging for candy. I just didn't have that kind of drive any more compared to the times when I was much younger. I was also afraid of this holiday because of the fact that I would have to answer the door literally every 5 minutes or so for trick-or-treaters when I'm in the middle of studying and doing homework. But based on my diligence and effort that I give in and outside of school academically, I was able to continue my studies.

Project 365: Day # 56 - Sunday, October 30, 2011 "Feeling under the weather"

Ok today was obviously not my best day. I was sick the entire day and I couldn't do anything about it except to drink as much tea and to get as much rest as possible because I knew I wanted to get well before this week coming. With the first quarter soon coming to an end, I was still concerned about my debillitating conditions. I felt like I wasn't going to be able to make it in school. I tried so hard to get all of my homework assignments completed before I went back to school the next day. Luckily I was able to accomplish that daunting task but it never worked out during school. I was suffering to a point where I thought I had obtained some kind of virus. Now eventhough I was struggling with sneezing and coughing and blowing my nose every 5 minutes, I was able to get my school work done despite my horrible conditions.
