Project 365: Day # 27 - Saturday, October 1, 2011 "A Productive Journey to the Big Apple"
Today was the day that I take the journey to New York City on my own. I was very excited, filled with great felicity and zeal. I was so excited that I woke up on Saturday morning at 4:30 am. I was scheduled to leave on a bus at 6:30 am and arrive there at 9:45. I was heading up to New York for the open house at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University in Brooklyn on Sunday, October 2, 2011. I'm very interested in the school because of it's location of which inspires the school to undergo and offer a myriad of programs that deal with engineering and technology as well as the major diversity of which the school is inundated with thousands of students around the world. NYU Poly is merged with NYU of the Washington Square Campus in Manhattan therefore all students and staff at both schools use each others resources such as libraries, lecture halls, laboratories, etc. The bus ride was very comfortable and fast. There was no traffic for the majority of the trip. It took approximately three hours and 15 minutes. It's like every time we passed trough a toll booth along the way I felt more closer to my "second home" if you will. Once I arrived, the bus dropped me off at 7th Avenue and 28th Street. I pretty much knew my way around this prodigious metropolis. I knew almost every street and every subway line and where it led to. I could hear the roaring of cars, trucks, and buses rushing down 5th Avenue at high speeds. Did you know that there are over 10,000 taxis that operate everyday and that run throughout all the five boroughs? Just a little fact I thought I'd throw out there. The weather was perfect. Although it was cloudy when I arrived but it never rained while I was there. I did a lot of walking while I was there. I stayed at my cousins apartment in Jersey City, NJ which has an amazing view of Manhattan and along the Hudson River. I really enjoyed myself and couldn't wait for the open house the next morning.
