Project 365: Day # 8 - Monday, September 12, 2011

Today was an amazing day. I just received the greatest news so far. I'm in my Symphonic Winds class and I found out that I've been asked to help compose a piece for the entire band to play for our annual Spring concert in May and hopefully our band assessment in March if we start earlier. I felt truly honored to perform such a task for the performing arts department at New Town High School. I take this great opportunity to put my dexterous mind and skills to work. I could visualize myself screaming and jumping up and down in a sense that this has been my higher calling; that this was one of many goals that I wanted to accomplish in the near future. I initially had a feeling that something prodigious and wonderful would come up. I'm glad to working on a major project such as this. This gives me a chance to really think outside the box because there are so many factors to take into consideration as to what style the piece should be written in, which instrument(s) will be the most dominate in the selection, and to what degree should the piece go in terms of notes and rhythm. And as much fun this will be working on this, this will be the most arduous as well. Which means I'll be needing extra help from Mrs. Harris, Mr. Evans and from the band. But I'm extremely confident that we'll make something amazing and unforgettable with the help of great minds and versatile talents of perseverance and true musicianship.
